Filter saturation curves?

by christeck » Thu Oct 16, 2014 11:41 am

I know it's comparing apples with pears. But here it is anyway.

I noticed that many sounds I like from the Virus get their special character by its different filter saturation curves. I also remember that the original microWave could be forced to saturate its mixer by sending it certain waves at maximum level.

I tried to get similar results from the Solaris by using it's filter and VCA feedback capabilities. That gave me other unique results, but not the desired aggressiveness I had in mind.

The Solaris is unique anyway, and should not try to emulate any other synth on earth. Some mixer saturation may be useful anyway :) .
