Hello Sven

I got some digital crackling noise too but I could find it's coming from the subtle change of midi tempo coming from my DAW (Cubase 9.5) wich is not perfectly regular :(

I'm probably late, sorry, but I share completly the opinion of Eric (synthwalker) : to get more voices and a switch to decide more voices or another sound(s) on the second box (expander). Price 1200$
Of course, a (even simple) bank manager should be welcome ;)
