Re: Developer Fund
I would be willing to bankroll a sound designer to do a full bank of classic synth patches, but this would require finding a professional sound programmer who also has a Solaris, which might be a challenge. (I've been listening to a lot of Gary Numan lately and just love the synth tones he gets, whi...

Re: Solaris future questions.
With the industry moving towards more ARM -- better tools, cheaper, better price/performance -- like the H9000 and Quantum, how much work would it be to move the existing code onto an ARM setup vs. trying to continue down the SHARC path? There would be other advantages too such as a larger base of ...

Re: other Solaris hardware ideas
The Quantum oozes sex appeal because of that screen and the specs, but funny enough all the sounds/presets I heard were pretty 90s sounding (Wavestation, D50, Triton, etc.). Hopefully better sound examples are forthcoming. I do think a Solaris 2 would get the GS et. al. crowd pretty excited (per som...

Re: other Solaris hardware ideas
+1 to John -- quality is important. There are other ramifications of minikeys -- how do you support 10 note polyphony with minikeys? I suppose there's an argument here for maybe a 4 note polyphony, 37-key variant, but the programming interface would have to be revisited, and I'm not sure that's what...

Re: Favorite Reverb
John, you might want to ask Sean Costello (Valhalla) if he'd be interested in licensing a couple basic algorithms. I believe he's based in Seattle as well. His stuff runs on PC for the most part but I know he did some work on a SPIN FV-1 as well.

Re: would you be interested in SOLARIS editor ?
does Solaris really need that many bits to represent time or is it doing a non-linear mapping? I had always assumed the latter since you can't specific 19.995ms from the front panel (that I could see).

Are there bits of utilities that could be open sourced to see if others would be willing to work on them?

Re: other Solaris hardware ideas
I actually keep up with the FB group more than here, but anyway. #1 is the clear winner to me -- lots of people want the sound and interface, but don't want to eat up the space of a keyboard/ribbon/wheels/etc. It would also likely be the simplest to develop and you could possibly even get some repea...

For 70s/80s sound -- OTO BAM For general room/ambience -- Eventide 2016 For AMAZING ambient 'blade runner' sounds -- Mercury Meris 7 I still have a Big Sky but I'm slowly losing my interest in Strymon's delay/reverbs -- they have a metallic sheen to them, and that weird "dry on top of wet"...
