Solaris Audio Examples

I wanted to make sure everyone was aware of this page from the Web site that has a number of musical pieces from a variety of composers - there’s quite a few to listen to here:

Re: CF card FAQ

I'd like to post an update here regarding scrolling through presets - with the new v1.3.1 OS, the currently selected preset bank names are loaded in a memory buffer (cache) so that scrolling through presets is much, much faster now!

New OS Upgrade - v1.3.1 OS released!

Though I’ve posted this in all the various Facebook pages and on my front page of this site, I realized that some may come directly here to see what’s going on in the Solaris community, so please forgive the repeated post: I am really excited to announce our first major OS "feature upgrade" in quite...

Re: New carrying case for your Solaris

There’s nothing specific for the joystick, but there’s enough padding in there that I wouldn’t worry about it.

Re: Obie state variable filter - continuous change of mode.

Yes, the looping envelope would work, as it has X and Y coordinates for each stage. You can use this with a Vector Mixer.

Re: Noise source and its impact on sample and hold.

BTW: Off topic question, related to some remarks you made in other thread: have you read "Solaris" by Lem? I have not read the novel, but I saw Tarkovsky's film version of it in 1976, and it had a profound affect on me, having just lost the love of my life, so the name 'Solaris' has always had a sp...

Re: Noise source and its impact on sample and hold.

Hi Norman, Good question! I would have to have someone look at the code now to determine this (the original coder is no longer around). I suspect it is a 'pseudo-random generator'. I would not expect you to be able to achieve a periodic pattern, though. Also, maybe a bit of clarification as to what ...

Re: Obie state variable filter - continuous change of mode.

Hi Norman, The quick answer is no, the Solaris doesn't do that. Each mode is a selection from a list, and there's no modulation of the filter type - they just switch immediately. I believe what DSI told me is that they are using a crossfade circuit to get this result, but to build it in the Solaris ...

Re: Major v1.3.0 OS update now available

Hiroyuki-san, The process is explained in the Data Files area where you downloaded the file. You have to rename the file to 'solarisos.raw' after downloading, then put the file into the OS folder on your Solaris CF card. Insert the card and turn on the Solaris, holding down the Enter button. You wil...
