Re: OLED text displays

So, an update - one owner has replaced all 5 text displays with an OLED display that costs about $20-30 each - so much cheaper than what I had first found! He says the only issue is that the display is not as “thick”, so there is some space between it and the plexiglas covers we use (which are norma...

Proper formatting and installation for the CF card

I just had an owner send me his CF card because he had downloaded the Complete Factory CF card data, formatted his card in MAC OS, and put the data on the card, only to find out the Solaris couldn’t read any Programs (Presets). I thought I had mentioned to him to make sure the card was formatted as ...

Re: Local On - transmit MIDI?

Hmmm, doesn’t seem right. Obviously, you have Midi Control set ON, or you wouldn’t see any notes in Ableton.

I will have to get Jim to take a look...

Re: Local On - transmit MIDI?

Yes, please check the OS version, and make sure it’s v1.4.1. The problem you are describing was with an older version.

You should post this in the Facebook group so those that don’t visit the forum can see it.
I’ve posted this now in the Solaris FB Group.

Re: OLED text displays

Also, just as a F.Y.I. RE: OLED graphic display - I copied these from the gearslutz thread: " IMO there are not many advantages to switch the LCDs to OLED displays. Maybe better contrast and viewing angles, but that is it. With OLED displays, you pay more and also get reduced lifetime for the displa...

OLED text displays

To those of you who have been asking about having OLED displays for your Solaris - there is a display that we could possibly make work in the Solaris. The parts cost from Mouser would be $750 (plus tax & shipping) for 5 of the displays. I’m not sure what other modifications or adapter we would need ...

Re: Human readable Bank and Preset names

We have a beta OS in testing that now allows “human readable” preset and bank names. Please contact me if you are interested in testing it. (Note that you need to back up your presets data before changing any names, as the currently released OS will not be able to handle them. Only use with v 1.4.1....

Re: Developer Fund

We have done some preliminary exploration into multimode capability. Right now I can verify that we are able to load a different preset into each DSP. Next is designing a new object structure that contains all of the required parameters for a useful MultiMode. It will be a lot of work.

Re: VCA Boost and Treble

The ‘boost’ parameter is actually part of the OTA modeling code that was previously inside the Moog ladder filter code. We decided to put it out separately so it could be added to all the other filter choices. :-) You can hear the saturation effect most clearly by turning off any oscillators and the...

72 new Presets from Wouter van Beek

Today we are happy to post a new bank of 72 presets from the Dutch sound designer Wouter van Beek! These are a bit more in the experimental and ‘special’ range, and show a very creative approach. Many use the wheels, ribbon, and joystick, although I don’t yet have notes indicating this for each. I’v...

Re: Stuck Notes On Glissandos

Jimmy V.,

It’s really puzzling, since neither one of us (Jim and I) can get this to happen.
As for OS versions, let’s see if you find it in Jim’s first big version release, 1.3.0. I definitely don’t recommend going back as far as a 1.2.x.

You can always downgrade the same way you upgrade...but of course we’d rather find what it is that is causing your stuck notes.
Over to Jim Hewes....

So sorry to see you go! Do you have the latest OS installed in your Solaris?
