Re: Human readable Bank and Preset names

We have a beta OS in testing that now allows “human readable” preset and bank names. Please contact me if you are interested in testing it. (Note that you need to back up your presets data before changing any names, as the currently released OS will not be able to handle them. Only use with v 1.4.1....

Re: Developer Fund

We have done some preliminary exploration into multimode capability. Right now I can verify that we are able to load a different preset into each DSP. Next is designing a new object structure that contains all of the required parameters for a useful MultiMode. It will be a lot of work.

Re: VCA Boost and Treble

The ‘boost’ parameter is actually part of the OTA modeling code that was previously inside the Moog ladder filter code. We decided to put it out separately so it could be added to all the other filter choices. :-) You can hear the saturation effect most clearly by turning off any oscillators and the...

72 new Presets from Wouter van Beek

Today we are happy to post a new bank of 72 presets from the Dutch sound designer Wouter van Beek! These are a bit more in the experimental and ‘special’ range, and show a very creative approach. Many use the wheels, ribbon, and joystick, although I don’t yet have notes indicating this for each. I’v...

Re: Stuck Notes On Glissandos

Jimmy V.,

It’s really puzzling, since neither one of us (Jim and I) can get this to happen.
As for OS versions, let’s see if you find it in Jim’s first big version release, 1.3.0. I definitely don’t recommend going back as far as a 1.2.x.

Re: Stuck Notes On Glissandos

You can always downgrade the same way you upgrade...but of course we’d rather find what it is that is causing your stuck notes.
Over to Jim Hewes....

Re: Solaris future questions.

I'd love to get an understanding of the future of the Solaris. I love mine, but there are a lot of things I'd like to see in a future rev that likely won't be possible if beholden to incremental adjustments to the existing architecture. Brian - would you be willing to list these things, and send th...

Re: DIGITAL LEVEL TOO HOT`

Well, this is a first! Sorry, I can’t think of any way to do this globally! The only thing that comes to mind would be a customized software app that would go through each preset, doing a search and replace the value for all mixers. I had Bernard Wong (subliminaleffect) create a special app to do th...

Re: POLY AFTERTOUCH PRESETS

As far as I know, there aren’t any presets that are set to use Poly AT. You would have to edit the presets to add it. In the Modulation Source lists, it shows up as PolyAT. You can get to it quickly by turning the desired Source knob a little (to tell the Solaris you want to edit that parameter), th...

Re: Sustain pedal and Note-On messages choke the Solaris OS 1.4.1

We haven’t seen this issues since v1.3.0 OS, and so it’s odd to see your report. What synthwalker is referring to - there was a corrupted global.ini file that got out there in some of the production, and it was affecting things (though I can’t recall exactly what right now). You can check it by down...

Re: Solaris future questions.

With the industry moving towards more ARM -- better tools, cheaper, better price/performance -- like the H9000 and Quantum, how much work would it be to move the existing code onto an ARM setup vs. trying to continue down the SHARC path? There would be other advantages too such as a larger base of ...

Re: Solaris future questions.

What happens as the years go by, some parts become no longer available through normal channels, and you have to find them on the ‘after market’, where the prices become ridiculously high in most cases. That has been the case for the current main board, and my costs have increased significantly becau...
