Re: CS-80 Voice Architecture with the Solaris

Ok, that is awesome. Thank you John - a bit of Ring Modulation really expands the harmonic complexity, and when mixed in with subtlety, just lovely. I just learned another useful trick with my Solaris!

Re: CS-80 Voice Architecture with the Solaris

Thanks John, Ive corrected the post! Once again proving how inexhausibly deep the Solaris really is. I know the instrument well at this point, but mastering it is quite a task!

Re: Could this be done?

Here's another vote for MPE support - I have a ROLI Seaboard.

CS-80 Voice Architecture with the Solaris

The Solaris is a very powerful synthesizer. It is much more powerful than all the old analog polysynths. This is wonderful. It is also confusing if you are not a competent synth programmer. What is a good way to learn a new skill? Copy something successful! One of the benefits of setting up a Solari...

Re: v1.3.1 OS Upgrade released!

Thank you so much for all the effort! This is great! I just flashed mine and the whole synth seems snappier. The preset scrolling is DEFINITELY vastly improved. 1.3.1 is a wonderful release, and I'm very glad to have it. Thanks Jim for all the great coding work!

Re: fly-case for my solaris ?

I had a custom case made by Brady Custom Cases. For something as nice as the Solaris, you want something that protects it properly.

Re: New version of the OS ? Soon or not ?

A slightly different perspective.... If you power the synth on, program it to your heart's content, and then play the resulting sounds from the Solaris's keyboard, you will likely not experience much in the way of bugs or needed features. It outputs glorious sound from its digital IO or the analog I...

Re: Still thrilled and learning after two years with Solaris

It really couldn't be easier. The Solaris responds to PolyAT natively. it is in the modulation routings for every parameter that can be modulated on the synth. There are other ways to do it, but I made a super simple Max7 patch that took MIDI output from the Seaboard and piped it out a physical MIDI...

Re: Still thrilled and learning after two years with Solaris

It is really pretty easy. Solaris has PolyAT in the mod menus. Just add it to modulate the VCA and you are set. You can use velocity and pitch bend as well. The Roli keyboards are very configurable. You can have them simply send PolyAT for each note on one channel. You can have the keyboard play mon...

Still thrilled and learning after two years with Solaris

This remains a wonderful instrument. I have never regretted the wait, the purchase or the price. 1) It sounds better than any softsynth or VST I own or have tried, including stuff like Diva. It is not close. There is a harmonic richness and chime that quality analogs have (like the new OB-6). You ca...

New Black Octopus presets

http://blackoctopus-sound.com/product/event-horizon-2-128-patches-john-bowen-solaris/ This is a new bank of 128 sounds. I like it a lot. I've learned some more about programming the Solaris from this. There is some very nice and subtle use of the Rotors. This is the most usable collection of presets...

If that is the case, that would be really cool. If this is addressed, I will definitely use the feature regularly.
