Two minor things with sample loading

Now that I'm finally start to play with building and loading sample pools, I've noticed two minor things: * There is an off-by-one between the sample indexes in a SamplePool file, and the wave number displayed in Oscillators window. Wave 0 in the window is sample index 1 in the file, etc. Not a big ...

Solaris won't stay in tune

Good day, and my apologies in advance if this is a topic that has been covered previously -- I didn't find anything with a forum search. I have an early-production Solaris, and I'm getting back into playing after not having done much over the past year and a half, but this is a problem I had noticed...

Scan your wavetables!

Last week, I was playing with the wavetable oscillator, which I have not done much with up to now. I had tried before to do some things with it, and it seemed like all I could get out of it was either organ-like sounds, or noise. Then it dawned on me: I needed to hear the full content of each waveta...

Washington -- a Statescape

Here's a track done entirely with the Solaris. Among the things I do are tracks that I call "Statescapes". If you've heard any of Robert Fripp's Soundscapes, you know the idea -- "music of repetition and hazard", a sound-on-sound technique using long-period delays with feedback and improvisation. Wh...

Re: Navigation

Interesting. How much are you using the data wheel? I find myself using it a lot to browse patches, but not as much for patch editing. If I want an exact value for a parameter, I usually use the keypad. (Which, by the way, is an incredibly useful thing to have -- the only other synth I have that has...

Navigation

One of the things I've really been impressed with (now that I've finally got a bit of time to build some patches!) is how quick it is to navigate parameters on the Solaris. It has turned out to be every bit as good as I'd hoped back when we had the discussion here about the page displays and page bu...

Re: Could this be done?

The Oberheim Matrix-1000 did that too. They called it "guitar mode"; I guess it was intended to interface with a guitar synth.

Very cool! A minor point: is the S/PDIF considered its own output, separate from the analog outs? It looks like it is on these pages.

What's the first thing you are going to do with your Solaris

Aside from unpacking it and hooking it up, of course. I'm going to bang together a few patches, then I'm going to connect in some long-period delays and do a Frippertronics thing with it.

I agree, we should keep the discussions out here so more potential customers can see it. Doubtless this forum will pick up a lot once some performers have a unit in their hands.

John, just saw your email note. I guess October has been a strange month for you. But it's great that your mom saw fit to do what she did, and now you can proceed with the Solaris project without losing control of the business. I'm jazzed now! 8) I guess there is still the probate process and all of...
