New review in Sound on Sound magazine

Got my new Sound on Sound in mail yesterday and quite nice review of the SOLARIS which touts the flexibility, sound and only minor quibbles seem to be over polyphony, a personal bias against Fatar keyboards (um, not sure why Europeans don't like them, with the majority of ALL good synths of the past...

Re: Ribbon - default to pitch bend

Hi JB thanks! Obviously being able to send midi data from the ribbon is useful for "recording" the performance for later editing in the DAW, so hopefully for the future that would have menu item to specify "send cc" vs "local only" - ideal for us "use it as a contr...

Ribbon - default to pitch bend

Hi, was noting that ribbon "does nothing" on majority of factory patches (bank one, two); and it would be nice to have it "default" to pitch bend, ala the ribbon on my Kurzweil ... this is generally assumed behavior for the ribbon on any syth, but for most patches on the SOLARIS ...

Re: Current owners - joystick question

I'd rather have 2 joysticks, one of each ... ;-) Hmmm... very good question JB... generally I prefer the snappy action for playing, but I think for vectoring in this case, it's best the way it is, since it's more useful to put something at a blend spot (TM) and then move hand to mod wheel while play...

Re: Other synths you like.....

Plug... howdy! Yeah, Greg be the wizard. :-) Of course, with the CS-80 filters, a lot of people don't "get" that with the CODE, you have to really program something which uses half the voices on one layer, half on another to better simulate the CS-80's "two keyboards in one box" ...

Re: FS: Solaris White - brand new

Yeah. Frustrating. Need to sell $30K worth of gear, don't WANT to sell ANYthing (well, maybe the Roland Xv5050...) ... don't need to sell for financial reasons except possibility of buying new home. So.... tough wishy washy, day to day mindset. One day I'm "sell it all, get house, buy back late...

Second thoughts ... after speaking with JB by email, I think I'm keeping my SOLARIS. :-)

Re: FS: Solaris White - brand new

Hi, Jimmy I'll be posting a "for sale" list on my website, and will email you link once it's ready (end of the month probably). Actually trying to sell my mixer + Omnirax console on ebay first to "make room" in here. I need to inventory stuff, for the minute as I tend to have man...

Solaris White -(sold)

[*UPDATED*] Hi, folks: sold to Michael in NY. Thanks for adopting my Solaris! Wish I had the space, the time, and the brain cells to learn something new, sadly no. I will say the sound is truly amazing ... you can tell 96k when you hear it. Much more pure sound than the Virus Ti, and can totally nai...

Re: Other synths you like.....

Howdy plug... let me know how you like the CS80 filters. Are you installing them yourself? Some say not too hard, some say send it back to Analogia (almost down the street, well 30 minutes, with traffic, from me) to add the filter blocks. Curious how that goes with you. I was going to send the SunSy...

Re: Other synths you like.....

Ha! Funny, I had the same thought to move this to new thread since the eventual laundry list kind of thing wasn't really part of the show-off of Solaris landing. I could as likely have added that I sold most of my rack FX in favor of the UAD-2 in my Mac Pro Tower (Nahelem 8 core, 48GB RAM, blah blah...

Re: Announce when you receive your Solaris!

I haven't added the CS80 filters to my CODE8-OD as another owner told me the current batch of MOTM-inspired filter packs are not as "juicy" as the first batch due to circuits used... I still like it...I still like my Alesis Andromeda, also; but ... trying to decide right now what to sell/k...

Re: Announce when you receive your Solaris!

I almost bought a CS80 last week. The 'gods' were telling me it was time. First, there was one in Long Beach, about 20 miles from me (sold for abou $11K); hemmed/hawwed, chose not to (I'm trying to save up for house). THEN, a week later, one came up for sale, recently serviced... literally blocks aw...

Re: Announce when you receive your Solaris!

Oh... my s/n is 0039 I believe. White case, no lighted wheels, wood end caps (aluminum ends ordered separately). Rec'd April 1. After I get my business taxes done, I'll be posting an in-depth review, for those interested in such things. More later :-) The sound quality is really noticeable, has real...
