Solaris receives midi in and goes crazy

This seems to be perhaps something that only happens to my unit, but i'd like to know if it happened to others as well. Have any of you tried sequencing and controlling the Solaris from your DAW? How does your Solaris behaves when it receives midi? Mine goes crazy - or mute. I connected the Solaris ...

Re: Several highlited preset names at once

Happened to me as well, but still the preset playing was the preset i wanted. It's just that several names were highlited.
I just went out of preset mode and back again, moved to the page where you see 10 presets at a time and it was back to normal.

Is this normal Solaris behaviour?

Say i'm playing the Solaris' preset 56 on Bank 2. I finish playing and turn off the Solaris.
Next time i turn it on again - it reboots and starts with preset 0 bank 0 ("JB ROTOR DREAMS") instead of loading
the last preset i played. Is this how it should be - or some kind of bug?

Thanks

Re: Announce when you receive your Solaris!

As for the sluggish C key at the far right end of the keyboard - what should i do? Do you think it'd be wise to remove the right wood panel to get access?
No, the wood panels are just added on; there's no access to the insides from the sides.

Re: Announce when you receive your Solaris!

...Another thing i noticed is that for some reason, the high C key to the far right is harder to press and more sluggish in comparison to the rest of the keys. Hmmm, so it's like something is rubbing against the side to cause some friction against the key? The only thing i managed to see was the en...

Re: Announce when you receive your Solaris!

Thanks John! I'd appreciate it very much if you'd send another left woodside panel. Thanks for the quick response. Another thing i noticed is that for some reason, the high C key to the far right is harder to press and more sluggish in comparison to the rest of the keys. Again - the sound itself and...

Re: Announce when you receive your Solaris!

So i got my Solaris an hour ago, hooked it up and started playing. The instrument itself is wonderful. It's indeed a "no corners cut" kinda synth. But my main problem is shippment and packaging. For some reason, DHL's Economy shipping was chosen - even though i was willing to pay 250 euros...

Re: Does the Solaris digital out - fit this digital in?

So just to clarify - the purpose of the second cable (or double, if a converter is needed) going out of the interface and back into the Solaris is to slave it to the DAW\Interface sample rate?

Re: Does the Solaris digital out - fit this digital in?

Yes, so, hmmm, that looks potentially workable. If you get a pair of Toslink cables (optical cables), just try it. Ok. So i bring back my previous question: Do i need two cables to make this work? One from the solaris spdif out to the DI of the interface (for transfering the audio) - and another ca...

Re: Does the Solaris digital out - fit this digital in?

Hmmm, I think we need another person to comment, since I don't have the experience with ADAT multichannel signals. Your user manual seems to indicate that the rectangular jacks can receive and send either the ADAT format OR a stereo S/PDIF signal, and will know the difference and work accordingly. ...

Re: Does the Solaris digital out - fit this digital in?

Zahush76, The DI and DO jacks you have are also JIS F05 connectors, but because it states 'ADAT/TOS' next to the connectors, I'm assuming these DI and DO are for ADAT light pipe signals, which are not compatible with S/PDIF signals. See this quote from Wikipedia: "Other terms are sometimes use...

Re: Does the Solaris digital out - fit this digital in?

Yes, exactly...I guess I should be using the term 'coaxial' instead of 'RCA type' :-) These boxes should be cheaper, since they don't need a DAC inside. Ok. But still - will i need a second converter (i.e. to send a cable from my interface digital out, thru the converter - and into the Solaris' dig...

Re: Does the Solaris digital out - fit this digital in?

Let's address each question separately: So, the converter in the second photo is NOT what you want! You need a box that simply takes the digital data stream as Toslink for input, and uses the RCA jack for the digital output. I see. Something like this then? http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll150/...

Re: Does the Solaris digital out - fit this digital in?

Zahush76, So, there are 2 types of S/PDIF connectors. The red and white you see on your box are often called 'RCA connectors'. the other type is with optical connectors, usually called TOSLINK (for Toshiba Link), and these send the digital signal via light, and are often thought to be better than t...

Re: Announce when you receive your Solaris!

Arghhh. My Solaris was sent weeks ago. At first it was sent to some address in Germany and was returned to Sonic Core and then sent again to Israel on the 23rd of May. It was somehow received in customs only on the 4th of June. I called them and they said that once it's in customs - the procedure ca...
