FM programming help needed
Hi all, currently I try to get used to FM on the Solaris, though to little avail so far. The Solaris behaves differently than my other machines (Access Virus, Korg Z1, Korg Kronos) when it comes to frequency modulation. What I want to achieve is "simply" a modulation where both the pitch a...

Basic Collection
Here are a couple of sounds. Some are already known from my former posting (Virus & Z1 Legacy Collection), but most haven't been published yet. I'd like to thank John Bowen for creating (and supporting!) the Solaris. Despite its complexity, it's still easy to program. Got an idea? »Just do it«. ...

Re: Solaris VS Jupiter 8 & OB8
Thanks for the clarification, John. It saves my head from being scratched further :) . Here's how I got it to work anyway: - Set LFO 1 to S&H, a rate of 10 (or more) and to be retriggered. - Apply it to an oscillator's pitch. - Modulate its rate by one of the envelopes, at the maximum negative l...

Re: Solaris VS Jupiter 8 & OB8
I was happy to find a nice way to slightly and randomly change the pitch of each new note on the Solaris : I used an LFO, in S/H mode with a frequency (rate) = 0 but retrigered (at each note). Very very small amount to modulate the pitch of the oscillators. I just tried it to randomize the notes a ...

Re: Non-linear keytracking
It took me a couple of minutes to get used to it, but it does exacly what I was looking for. Thanks a bunch for the feature and the hint.John Bowen wrote:These are a little difficult to understand, I know...but just set you 3 points (lowest middle and highest key values), and you should be able to get it to work.

Perfect, that did the trick. Thanks for pointing this out.

Re: Store button state per patch
Whether it was switched on or off during save time. This mainly serves the purpose of indicating the user of downloaded banks that this button actually does something useful for the selected patch.

Ah. In case that works (didn't try yet) that's just fine with me. Thanks a bunch.

Re: Expression pedal mapping
I chose an Init patch, plain square wave from oscillator 1. I use a Yamaha FC7 pedal connected to the Solaris. I set it to expression and + polarity. => The Solaris responds accordingly by turning the volume down. => The MIDI monitor software tells me the Solaris sends MIDI CC 04 (foot pedal). Great...

Re: Expression pedal mapping
Any hint how to do this? Setting CC1 to 4, 7 or 11 didn't cause the desired result. And even if, it required to decouple the pedal from the main volume.

Dynamic time modulation of the Loop EG
As a programmer of "Pitched Bagpipe", I want to modulate the times of the loop envelope by using a controller dynamically. Currently it requires retriggering the note.
BTW: More modulation sources would be great, e.g. the ribbon controller.

Load last used sound at startup
Though I like JB Rotor Dreams, I'd vote for the Solaris to load the last used sound at startup. May require to teach it to load an init sound during boot by pressing a modifier key, as to avoid it being bricked in case something went wrong while saving a preset.

Global overdrive/distortion effects wanted
On almost any synth I used I created a patch consisting of a polyphonic square wave whith overdrive, soft or harsh. This sounds mad played polyphonically, but adds some nice timbre when playing legato lines, due to little distortion on any key change.
I miss this more than a reverb.
