Re: ABOUT SELLING MY NEW SOLARIS - A DECISION AFTER 3 YEARS
Than you can sell the JP8, Oberheim, Andromeda and jomox - and have (i think) enough for the schmidt. That would give you the ultimate analog poly, combined with the ultimate digital poly. Or just sell everything and get on of those korg volcas. Having spent time on considering the Schmidt, I think...

ABOUT SELLING MY NEW SOLARIS - A DECISION AFTER 3 YEARS WAIT
Hi, Today I set up my monitoring to listen to SOLARIS as I had planned that if it was not going to make the cut, I should just sell the damned instrument! I mean, it will sell quick, and, in the end all I really care about is whether or not I get an edge with it. Firstly, I thought I would post this...

Re: Just getting started...
Agreed.
I think you have it
In reality, the "amount" of random should have a fine grain of control (i.e. not integer units of 1 to 100, but at least two decimals because our ears are incredibly sensitive to "pitch" variance).
I like your idea a lot!!!

Poly Pressure / T8 versus MidiBoard
I have both the T8 and the MidiBoard and they transmit poly-pressure very differently as you know --- the T8 really does 8 channels of mono pressure for each voice. I am assuming that once the SOLARIS gets a multi-mode that my wishlist will be solved - but, I really more and more how nice it would b...

Re: Just getting started...
A random variable with a random variable range parameter would do it - this is easy to add in code, and easy to turn on per parameter --- I would urge a "global" mode with few templates (like osc freq's and VCA attack) although also having the mode for each parameter is nice. A tradeoff is...

Re: Your views on the overall feel?
Mine feels great. So far, my only issue is that I am getting used to the feel of the keyboard - but this is total normal and expected. Also, I have some of my own studio "space" problems (way, way too much gear) to arrange a comfortable working mode. I am having some confusion in really, r...

Re: Announce when you receive your Solaris!
Goodness Mr Galaxies. You wait 3 years, tell us it's arrived. Show us a picture and then nothing. Has it fallen on you and you''re stuck under it? Come on, give us some feedback! I have been learning the SOLARIS - a very, very deep instrument: those four oscillators and the entire signal chain open...

UPDATE: The SOLARIS has been transported out of the USPS holding depot in NEW YORK and to the local DELIVERY office.
Should arrive in a couple of days by my guess. So I guess they are shooting for a APRIL 19th delivery

Re: Announce when you receive your Solaris!
I have emails from the owners in Japan & the UK that they have received their Solaris. US deliveries should be really soon. John b. I managed to track where the USA SOLARIS are currently sitting. Since April 11, they are at the USPS facility in NEW YORK and have not moved yet. You can find this...

Re: NEW SOLARIS OS AND SYNTH ENGINE - FUTURE IDEA
As John has written below, I am sold on these concepts. They are right on. And, once I get my SOLARIS, I will *play* it and offer some video demos. The real issue does not come down to how many algorithms you can pack into a box: algorithms are important, but, when you have, for example, 90000000000...

Re: NEW SOLARIS OS AND SYNTH ENGINE - FUTURE IDEA
Thanks for the replies :) Actually I did look at the DSP chips and other things as I was reviewing SOLARIS and I understand the SOLARIS is a closed architecture: I was just testing the waters to see if anyone was interested. I would not be "reverse-engineering" the SOLARIS code base at all...
