why we went to hardware...

Got to hear David Wessels talk (and perform) today. http://cnmat.berkeley.edu/people/david_wessel

It reminded me again why I ordered a Solaris. It's that thing where... if you are just sitting in front of a computer screen, you can get pulled out of the process of performing. Or might spend too much time on sound design at the computer.

I like working with the instrument right in front of you, and the constraints that a fixed interface imposes. So you can still get lost in sound design, but you don't risk losing the performance element.

A computer needs booting and maintenance.
An embedded system lke the Solaris HW is available much quicker and typically much more stable by nature.

And... by nature it has tangible controls and a workflow ;)

So....yes thats why
