New version of the OS ? Soon or not ?

Post by Patate le mgae »

Hi John,

have you an idea of the date when we can expected a solution for all the little bugs wich are still on the machine ?
Is there someone working on it at this time ?
Have you somewhere a list of the priority bugs you want to be fixed ?

For me, the most annoying bug ( on the way i practice music ) is the desynchronisation of the arpeggiator and the seq with an external midi clock.

Thanks,

Patrick

OK, I have a response finally, and he will be able to start looking at the timing bug in 2-3 weeks.

Shall we make a list? Or do we already have one?

Well, I have a very long list of things, both in bug fixing and in added features, but you are welcome to make a list here if you like :-)

It's more about prioritizing the list, and maybe that's what the discussion should be. Here's a "Top Ten" that needs to be prioritized:

1) External MIDI clock sync with arpeggiator drifts
2) freeze on boot-up occasionally
3) fix sample loop point playback bug
4) add Joystick X/Y parameters to Preset List
5) add MultiSample mapping
6) add MultiMode
7) add analog 'drift' or 'slop' (as DSI calls it) function, in some form - simple or complex
8 ) parameter value for Sequencer Mode is not being stored in Presets
9) weird characters sometimes appear in upper left Oscillator display
10) stuck notes or missing notes at times (increase MIDI buffer?)

And then there's the Cubase Users problems with MIDI and recording NRPNs....

And of course, many more things - you are welcome to post here what priority you would place on these 10 items, or what else you would include in this Top Ten list instead of what I've listed.

11) last preset on power-up
12) optimization for 15 note polyphony (I realize this would be a large undertaking, but I think it would be worth it for further sales)

...and more sales means more software development!

I largely agree with the priority list so far. Although if 15 note polyphony is really feasible I'd put that on 5)

13) A way to see destination routings
14) Reverb

-A" copy past" function from one preset to another one, for any parameter , oscillators, filters, envelops effects ect (very practical on an engin made for designers in rush)....
-a graphical display of all modulations , perhaps classified ....
-a way to stop freasing on boot up !....(number 1 !)
-graphical display of the envelops, filters ,mixer (very helpfull).....
-Multi mod with more polyphony(as promised)
-reverb effect ,
-A way to put a % of instability on oscillators or filters (which would make the economy of one lfo)
-A mac editor for the sequencer
-External MIDI clock sync
-Why not , new filters , new oscillators , new effects ? (as excpected...)

-this is a long list , i am sorry John , but your first users are waiting since a bit more than 2 years now ,
we could call it "Major release

John , your SOLARIS work is fantastic , don't leave it been depreciated with a defect of follow-up .
My very best respect and gratitude .

Hi vega,
Yes, most all of these points are planned to be addressed at some point....it's a lot to get done for guys who are not full-time on the Solaris, however. Plus, I have to pay separately for all this coding, and so for things that are not bugs, I probably will need to charge users for major OS upgrades. But I am fine with all the things listed....let's see how it goes.
