Custom cover for the Solaris
For an exceptional synth, you need an exceptional cover.
I had a great custom cover made in Bulgaria by somebody I know who makes all sorts of covers for instruments, amps, as well as transport bags.
The cost to make something for the Solaris, with logo, was $45 + $20 postage to the UK. Postage depending on where the parcel goes. About three weeks from order to receiving it, mostly due to the time it takes to get it.
Specs:
- Heavy-duty nylon exterior to protect against dust and spills;
- Padded 10mm layer for impact protection;
- Super-soft blue velvet interior;
- Heavy-duty seam binding with a 30mm seat-belting line that makes the cover very durable and attractive;
- 10mm nylon binding for the interior seam;
- 3mm nylon cord-piping (blue) within the corners - to keep the shape of the cover;
- High-quality embroidered "John Bowen Synth Design" logo.
Pictures of the actual cover:

That's a beautiful Cover, seriously. The Velvet Blue is classy, and the price is right.
When the right time comes, I shall treat myself to one.
Thanks.

I can vouch for the great quality of this thing. My recommendation is purely voluntary, there's nothing in it for me, I'm just a very satisfied customer.
It's by far the best cover I've ever owned for a synth. Compared with the usual flimsy black nylon or transparent plastic that yellows with age, this is in a different league altogether.

Note to U.S. Solaris owners:
I’m thinking I could order a number of these and save a bit on a group shipping/import costs...so, please let me know if anyone else wants to order one, and i’ll contact the source and see what can be done.

Hey all ... another option for custom covers, can be found at CompuCover, who I've been recommending to people for 20+ years now - for less than about $25 you can get custom fit in black nylon, blue nylon, anti static frosted vinyl to show off in studio, etc; see:

Very highlyy recommended. I have them for all my good keyboards (Matrix12, Moog, Hammond, even my big Epson printer and scanner).

I have so much MIDI gear it would warp your soul.

Re: Custom cover for the Solaris
I had a CompuCover in the past, they're OK but nowhere near the quality of the one I mention above. Saying the CompuCover models are as good as the one I recommended is akin to saying the Roland Gaia is just as good as the Solaris. The former is a good performer for the money, but definitely not in the same league.

Re: Custom cover for the Solaris
The beauty of the velvet cover is that it's velvet has a negative static electricity charge, which acts as a dust magnet.
Plus its just pretty and personal......
Ill take one JB, let me know when you get a few others signed up.

Note that nobody here said the CompuCover models are "as good as" the one you recommend, but they can be purchased and delivered in 3-4 weeks for any and all studio gear, and available now and easy to get in USA. Of course, the velvet is nice, too, but I personally would opt for the anti-static frosted see-through version personally. Just providing some options, for those who aren't already aware of CompuCover, among other things.francois wrote:I had a CompuCover in the past, they're OK but nowhere near the quality of the one I mention above.
