New Robert Wittek Presets!

Post by John Bowen »

As promised, here are some new presets (0-50) from Robert Wittek, the person who made a review of the Solaris for http://www.synthesizer.at and created the 36 minute Audio Workshop demo that has impressed so many! (You can find the review here: http://synthesizer.at/synthesizer/Solaris/solaris.htm)

UPDATE: I have made this Bank6, since the Factory card already has Bank0 - Bank5, but if you already have a Bank6, you will need to change this bank number to the next one up from your highest bank number.

REALLY IMPORTANT - I asked Robert to create some "performance notes' for each preset, and I feel it's really important that you print these out and read them as you step through the presets. This way, you will get the most effective use of Robert's excellent presets, by knowing what he had in mind when he programmed them.

Not all, but many, do use the ribbon controller as well as the joystick. Robert told me he did most of the presets with the joystick centered, and moving it around can really change the sound in several cases, so we recommend trying to remember to have the joystick in a centered position when first playing these sounds.

I hope you enjoy these new presets, which favor the 'digital side' of the Solaris more than the other factory sounds. Any feedback I'm sure will be appreciated.

Thanks again, Robert!!

Learning others creation in sound sculpting is fun.
And with such great presets I will be festive.

Wow!! Thank you Robert for taking the time to write all of the descriptions. Knowing all of those details makes the presets shine as you intended. So helpful...

And YES!, the reverse engineering of these patches is so much fun ;)

The preset #50, 'RW Ribbon me Horror' has given me great inspiration.

I downloaded the presets and they are fantastic; but I don't seem to have a bank 6? Whose/what presets are those? Wittek is bank 7, but bank 6 is empty.

Marzzz, sorry for the confusion! I had a small number of presets in my Bank6, which I regularly demo as well, so I had Bank7 as Robert's Bank.
I posted the Bank 6 presets (from Jon Ashalew) in this area below - there are just 20 presets to try. (I should probably add these to JAV's Bank5, since it's not full either.)

As I said elsewhere, just make sure your banks are numbered in ascending order. It's better for the Solaris file structure, especially when you are saving new ones.

You certainly can make Robert's bank into Bank6 if you like... :-)

EDIT - I have changed Robert's bank to Bank6, and edited my text above in the posting. Thanks, Marzzz, for helping me keep things straight!

So you must change presets from Jon Aschalew to bank 7...

Yes, but I think what I'll do for the next production round is revamp Bank5 and add them there - Jimmy's bank (JAV) goes from #0 to #40.
