Last weekend I received several banks of Presets from Mike Johnson, a major sound designer in Los Angeles. Mike has spent many years in the gaming industry, having worked most recently at Blizzard Entertainment. His earlier collection of synthesizers include a big PPG system, which helps explain the large number of presets in this collection that focus on that kind of sound. He wrote: "I used to own a very elaborate PPG system which I bought between 1985-1988 from Europa systems and from PPG America and hence was my motivation to get a Solaris because of the PPG/Waldorf Wavetables it contains, and I believe constitutes most of the patches in the banks that I made.”
I have gone through and refined 3 complete banks, and for use with the Factory CF card, I’ve numbered them Bank11, Bank12, and Bank13, however you can certainly renumber them as needed - just make sure that your Presets folder have all continuously numbered banks, otherwise the Solaris won’t play them correctly. There are also 3 text files listing all of the presets. You will see there are many subtle (at times) variations of certain presets - as Mike indicated to me, sometimes you want to keep tweaking things, even if you like what you already have!
He is very graciously donating his work to the Solaris community. Many thanks to Mike for this amazing set!
