mic-pre & coloration vs solaris ? What do you guys use ?

Wondering if anyone has used one of these beauties in conjunction with the solaris ? Instead of hoarding more and more synths I've thinned down my studio a lot and want to get the most out of my actual synths. Tested the UAD plugin and it sounds pretty damn good, you can especially beef up the low f...

Roland da-400 vs solaris

Hi guys, I acquired an S-760 sampler recently with a fully functional DA-400 unit , it seems to be a Rare Roland DA converter that is know for it's pleasant sound. Some people have used it in combination with certain synthesizers. I know this would be blasphemy in view of the 96KHz high audio qualit...

Re: Is ratcheting important to you?

Just wanted to mention it's wonderful to be an owner of this synth, not only do we have a fantastic instrument that keeps getting better. We can be part of a community where you can read a dev (Jim) & John discussing low level internal workings of this instrument. Keep up the good work guys, the...

Re: 2.02 random vco parameters freezes but audio continues

Hi there, Ok, been fiddling around a bit and was able to make my solaris freeze. 1) poweron 1a) played around in bank 15 Pr23, adapted random tune a bit, eventually settling on 10% , pressed store 3x. 2) Went bank 15, Program 26 ( a user preset based on 2 VS OSC) 3) play around a bit 4) checked the ...

Re: 2.02 random vco parameters freezes but audio continues

I went from 1.4.4 to 2.02 actually. Could this be the problem ? I'll document all steps meticulously tonight when I test again and come back with feedback

2.02 random vco parameters freezes but audio continues

Hi, Ever since I installed 2.02 I have a lot of stability issues while creating new patches. It's so bad I started saving after almost every parameter tweak. Often I realize changes are not having effect anymore and suddenly see my oscillators are all back at basic default settings while the sound i...

Re: AM/Ringmod help

First I'd like to thank you John for taking the effort in explaining and recording this. I will definitely try and reproduce this experiment here although I don't have a matriarch (which is stereo if im not mistaken) I can probably reproduce it with another synth (my DS Pro2). the exact sound I'm lo...

Re: OS Update - v1.4.3

this is such a creative and beatiful feature, patchchain. Made Toto Africa's CS-80 Brass come alive tonight. Did as instructed. created a single vco brass patch, 5 in sequence and slightly altered, no detuning, just lfo's slightly altering the pitch of vco1 and some changes per patch on VCA boost, o...

Re: OS Update - v1.4.3

From SOS review 2012 on Solaris :

One of the things I loved on early Oberheims was the cycling of voices that were a little bit 'off', so I hope that we will see things like analogue randomness appearing on the Solaris.” :-)

Re: AM/Ringmod help

I’d be very grateful if you could check this. Would even add it in the manual, it’s another great selling point :) Was reading an article in SOS the other day on how modern synths reset their lfo’s upon note release or note on. Is this something that can be switched off on the Solaris ? Example belo...

AM/Ringmod help

Gents, Anyone here with some experience on the AM and Ringmod ? Is it possible to get sounds out of it like the CS-80 ringmod ? What would be good settings for the AM to records some FX samples ? Been tinkering around a bit but can't get lush ringmod , it sound buzzy and distorted, I'm probably miss...
