Re: AM/Ringmod help

Hi - you don't need to use an external synth to recreate ring mod sounds - only if you are trying to strictly create the monophonic response of re-triggering the CS-80 as in my examples. My example was something like Eddie Jobson from the band UK / album UK would do with his CS-80. You are looking f...

Re: AM/Ringmod help

thx for the feedback concerning the lfo's, would be grateful if someone could give a bit more info on how to create the lush ring-mod sounds settings wise (or share a patch and some instructions) Attached is a file with three audio examples of the Solaris Ring mod with a space between each https://...

Re: Developer Fund Update - Important!

...The only thing I did not see on the list for me is a way to sync LFOs. This would be helpful to emulate mono LFOs like in the OBX, etc. Today the Solaris LFOs are all free running per voice. John. I'll add it to the list - thanks for the reminder. John - I would also like to add to the list mono...

Re: AM/Ringmod help

Was reading an article in SOS the other day on how modern synths reset their lfo’s upon note release or note on. Is this something that can be switched off on the Solaris ? Yes! The Solaris has individual LFO's for each voice that can be set to free running or reset to a specific phase via note on....

Re: AM/Ringmod help

I'm able to get convincing CS-80 type ring mod effects out of my Solaris - using the envelopes to modulate speed & depth. It sounds really cool and expressive. I forget the settings offhand - I'll have to check but it was fairly straight forward. The only issue I remember having is that the CS-8...

Re: Developer Fund Update - Important!

Hi David, I know you are interested in improving the sample loading for the Solaris. One of the bigger issues before I get someone like SampleRobot involved would be to have a new Sample Player object that could handle multisamples. At the time we first designed the Solaris, I didn’t want to give i...

Re: Developer Fund Update - Important!

Yes! I will definitely financially support the continued development of the Solaris! Thanks again to Jim for all of his efforts! What a impact he has made on the development of the Solrais! I have made a donation to his paypal account. To me - the list looks fine. I would suggest getting a price quo...

Re: Global LFO

Thanks John. I was wondering if this might be in the code under Jim's control. Let me know what if anything that Jim could do for this. A future wish list for this would be: - LFO options for free running (today's functionality) or all voices being linked for that lfo - EG and Loop EG options to ope...

Global LFO

Hi all, Is there a way to have a global lfo feature on the Solaris where the lfo’s are in sync in phase and depth? Each modulation source seems to be per voice (which is great for Poly AT and other evolving sounds), but I am trying to emulate the single lfo’s on older poly synths. You can sort of em...

Re: New OS Update - 1.4.4

Thanks for another great update Jim & John!

I've been busy refurbishing an OBX that I bought late last year and am just getting back to my Solaris. It's great to see the ongoing support for this great synth!

Re: Way to reduce the pitch mod lower than 0.10?

Hi - I agree - the .10 is not granular enough. Especially when I try to emulate something like the tight phasing of Mini Moog oscillators. What I have done in those situations is I send the MAXVAL to a mixer and use the mixer to modulate the pitch of the oscillator. You can reduce the the amount in ...
