Re: Sample pools in OS 2.x
My apologies for any confusion regarding the change in how the samples are handled. This was actually changed in the 1.4.3 OS, which is described here: https://forums.johnbowen.com/viewtopic.php?t=16758). A preset can now load a sample pool when the preset is called up. This is determined by the set...

Re: Is ratcheting important to you?
John, Jim, since ratcheting is about the seq, is there any chance that you implement what's now known under the name "Voice Component Modelling", i.e. using multiple internal seqs in keystep mode to slightly modulate parameters per voice as discussed here?: https://forums.johnbowen.com/vi...

Re: Is ratcheting important to you?
Glad you mention things already done - the control lanes are now separate, and there’s a new, single Note lane. There’s also modulation provided in a couple of ways, just as you suggested! There’s still some work to be done on the new functions, so that’s why I was wondering what else to add, such a...

Is ratcheting important to you?
Dear Solaris Owners, Jim is working on some improvements to the Sequencer in the Solaris. There’s already some fun things in the works, and now I am wondering if it’s worthwhile to add a ratcheting function to each step, so I thought I’d post it here to get your responses. What do you think? John B.

Re: opposite of Note
Keep in mind that you have the oscillators still tracking the keyboard, so adding a negative note will add (subtract) from the oscillator tracking. I’ve just set up a patch that tunes Osc 1 & 2 to unison at the top of the keyboard ( C-7), then detunes Osc 2 as I play down. Here’s the settings us...

Re: opposite of Note
I just applied a negative initial amount to a filter cutoff in full resonance using Note, and after setting Key Track to 0%, the cutoff does indeed track downward as I play up the keyboard. Is this not what you want?

RIP Jimmy V.
I know many of you here are aware of the many posts and contributions a fellow Solaris owner known as Jimmy V. (as well as dawman or several others) has made to the Solaris community. I just got news that he has passed away! I met Jimmy when I went to Las Vegas to make a ‘service call’ on his Solari...

Re: Solaris Expander Announced
@john Bowen. Hey John. I purchased the rack expander and I don’t own a Solaris keyboard. I’ve done a lot of programming, am familiar with sysex coding and I’ve also programmed an additive synth on the reason platform named Spectra. My plan was to develop a software controller for the rack expander ...

Re: What power-adaptor for the Solaris?
I guess it’s possible your motherboard has a different connector. How old is your Solaris (what is the serial number)?

Re: What power-adaptor for the Solaris?
Well, the photos show clearly that the Sunny is smaller in diameter, as I explained. I have 2 of the HASU05F and they both work very nicely with my Solaris, so I am really puzzled by your saying the plug was difficult to fit.

Re: What power-adaptor for the Solaris?
Here is the strange thing: Imagine that the side of the plug inside the Solaris, the center post, is 2.1 mm in diameter. So when you plug in the power supply, the hole of 2.1 mm fits perfectly. This is as you state. Now imagine that the hole on the power supply jack is 2.5 mm. This is actually bigge...

Re: What power-adaptor for the Solaris?
When you plug in that power supply, do you feel that you have to force it a little to go on? That is the experience I and several other owners have had, and I researched the issue to discover we needed a 2.5 mm center opening. The 5.5 mm is standard outside diameter. Also, a length of 11 mm just mea...
