Actually, the rack version came first, then the PEK.

I think he means that, if you have a good editor, you can sell a smaller tabletop or whatever unit that provides a minimum of necessary features, but depends upon a good editor to get all all the goodies hidden within. He is also saying the Nord G2 is a pretty good example of what that minimum shoul...

Now I'm back from Germany! The pre-ordering has resumed, and I was able to return with a working prototype Solaris! This one has the wood sides and the dark blue-gray colour. I'll see if I can take some decent front panel shots to post. Another unexpected but fun discovery was to find that the dimen...

HUROLURA, Unfortunately, I don't see this happening, especially at that price. Besides, part of the 'experience' of Solaris is the user interface - the tactile approach, with all the knobs and the 6 displays, etc.,etc. That's actually a big part of what makes the Solaris special, in my opinion. (Of ...

No not 60% less but 60% of the price of the keyboard version.
Do you mean 1500 Euros? (60% of 2500)?

60% less, eh?

You'd also loose the 6 displays, probably reduced to the one graphic display.

Which means you'd lose the 35 or so knobs, reduced to 10....but go ahead, I'm curious to see what the interest level would be.

Pre-orders for direct sales reinstated

A update to product pricing, availability, and pre-ordering is now posted on the PURCHASE page. Please have a look at http://www.johnbowen.com/purchasing.html for details. Here's an excerpt from a message I sent to all those who had made pre-order deposits, to clarify the situation: "Klaus is t...

Announcement - new Lead DSP

Hi Forum Readers, As you may have noted on the NEWS page, Sonic Core now has Klaus Piehl as the Lead DSP coder! He takes over the Solaris project as well, and I am quite excited to have Klaus. We worked together before, as he was the primary DSP coder for all the Creamware modules, including such th...

Thanks John, You answered my question, i looked at the panel, i guess the way it's displayed was my real concern. About the modeling saturation, it would be cool if the algorithms for saturation could be added, so your Solaris can have a variety of DSP saturation effects on the outputs, instead of a...

This appears to be a custom manufacturing job, which means it's going to be an expensive piece, were they to offer the mechanics of the keybed and processing as an OEM option. It also says they will offer 6 different keyweights, so the customer must choose which he wants (apparently by making a visi...

Pricing revision

As you will note on the Purchase page, I've suspended taking pre-order deposits until I get all the new data concerning production costs and so on later this week. Also, with the dollar vs Euro situation as it is, I need to revise some calculations, with the result being we probably will have a diff...

B787, No plans to have real Analog filters on the outputs (I assume you are thinking like the new Waldorf Stromberg?). That really adds to the cost. Certainly there will be some saturation type modeling in there, though. When you say beat-clock sync for the oscillators....the oscs and LFOs can be sy...

Inserting a pitch to CV module for the audio inputs would be just like expanding on the Envelope Follower section - just a different way to process the input, so it seems it should be possible. I do hope to license a number of Flexor modules for Solaris, but we just don't have time in the schedule t...

We can have a 48 note range, but it will need some smoothing control, as regular MIDI values for that large of a range would probably cause some stepping.
