HI, I'll try to answer inside the quote: Hi John! The specifications published this far look extremely promising. I'm thinking about whether Solaris can be expected to replace a number of my current synths. .... Here are a few questions about Solaris: 1. Does oscillator hard sync cause audible alias...

Solaris plug-in v5.0 coming...

Hi Solaris owners! One of the great things about the Scope Development system is that it allows me to test and try out things in real time, not waiting for dsp code updates (as I have to do with the hardware prototype :-P ). While the coming changes in v5 were originally meant as 'explorations' for ...

Soft sync, eh? Sounds interesting - and we can add it to the (already too) long list of desired features! :) I would like to hear what it does. I'll have to check through the Flexor modules when I have a chance....but that probably won't happen any time soon - right now, we're discussing some slight...

Regarding the 3rd example, is there a way to do the pitch modulation realtime via the knob without the stepping? Yeah, I thought someone would mention that. :) For this example, I had to use the Coarse Tuning control, which is stepped in semitones (you have +/- 60 semitones, or +/- 5 octaves). Prob...

Klaus and I discussed saturation, and what else we might want to have in there to address this. There will be the pre/post 'insert' FX as I've mentioned, plus there's one or two other parameters that could be reworked to handle these kinds of functions. (In the software plug-in, I have a 12 dB boost...

Yeah, there's a bit of noise in there from my computer audio board which I can hear. Not sure how it got into the recording, but the synth itself has a very clean output.

Simple Audio Examples

Hi All, I noted the requests for sound examples in the other Subject topic 'Sound Samples', and I've got quite a bit of programming to get to the point that I have sounds representative of those requests! But rest assured, I will get to them (and the Solaris is quite able to produce them). What I'd ...

Yes, the page for these kinds of effects has a switch to choose pre- or post-filter position, but not both simultaneously.

Eric, In response to your post, I was playing with frequency shifting today some more. One of the issues is that FS is usually a process done on the final output, not on a per-voice basis. The current Scope module is monophonic, which means it cannot play polyphonically within the sub-structure of t...

Hi All, I thought I'd clarify some aspects of the Solaris, especially for those who are unfamiliar with my Scope plug-in version. Today's topic is Sound Sources! The Solaris has several sound sources: oscillators, noise generators, and external inputs. Though a little more confusing, there are also ...

Re: Interest for a SOLARIS desktop version ?

The problem for me a simple one and its the same for 10000's of others , i dont have room for 2 master keyboards but can accomodate racks. How many more like me i wonder ? I can list countless synths i would have bought if they had been rackable but havent been able to accomodate. User studio space ...

Hi, Yes, user samples and wavetables will be loadable via the editor. There are no wave sequences (yet), as typically these use a dedicated block of sample memory, and I wasn't planning to have a 'factory sample ROM' type of object in there. This is not to say we couldn't provide a mechanism to prov...

Hi All, Today, for the first time, I brought the Solaris prototype over to a person who is pretty experienced in working with synthesizers, but had no experience with my Scope plug-in of Solaris. (If you know the plug-in, you already know most of the hardware's functionality and structure). I was ve...

Currently we have the rubberized grip type knobs. We may still find a better knob, so we will search a little bit more, but we have to commit to a choice soon. The 5 screens are 2 x 40 text displays; the larger screen is a graphic display. The color differences between the two types are noticeable, ...

i had to open my G2 engine to install the xpansion board and noticed how clever the G is engineered. the PCB board is exactly the same as the one in the G2. they thus had no costs porting it. Yes, well that's typically how it's done. The main board is separate from all the front panel stuff, so wit...
