Re: While waiting for my Solaris...
What language did you do this in? Do you think it would be feasible to port it to Mac? Since you explicitly state that you do not have a Mac the question is probably moot but it had to be asked... :D It's written in C++ and uses the JUCE cross-platform GUI library so it should port to Mac. I suppos...

Re: New version of the OS ? Soon or not ?
OpenSource is not a silver bullet - it only works when there is enough momentum and general interest. Having just a few hundred users, out of which only a handful are programmers, would make the whole thing moot. Open Source doesn't imply free of charge and amateur/volunteer programmers. Re: New version of the OS ? Soon or not ?
I really believe in open source things, but I think that there is not enough users to put the Solaris Os in the open source world. It might not be an instant silver bullet (it would still take time, and one owner with the right skills, or at least the will to acquire them or hire someone who does),...

Re: New version of the OS ? Soon or not ?
Hi John, As we've discussed privately (but I would like to restate it here), the surest known way to prevent software abandon is to open source it. Nobody should be forced to work on something for free if they don't want to. But when you can't/won't do it, and it has the consequence of holding users...
