Re: Voice Component Modeling

Yes, I saw that you put env mod sources in the list of features for the next OS. To prevent any missing parameter in future use, I suggest to begin with lags in all mod sources in the solaris, and use them as general i/o. It might be the easiest path for the next firmware (?). (Btw, I uploaded a new...

Voice Component Modeling

I came across this: Voice Component Modeling (VCM) : http://www.voicecomponentmodeling.com/ In a nutshell, and as far as I understood it: According to its author, Jason Cooper, the analog character of a polysynth does not come from completely random deviations, but rather from repeated, same random ...

Re: Original Solaris Prototype pictures

I used to think that beginning to design simple sounds might be best with two direct accesses to amp and filter env, to quickly test and understand the interactions between the two env. So, you considered having two rows of encoders for the two 'main' env... What made you change your mind? consisten...

Re: Ring Modulation...and more!

a quick note on my latest investigations: - when I swap the octave of OSC1 and OSC2 (OSC1:2' i.e coarse:0 and OSC2:8' i.e. coarse:-24), the result is much closer to the original. Hypothesis: the description above might have erroneously swapped the OSC octaves? - final mix: OSC1 and AM1, but AM1 soun...

Re: Ring Modulation...and more!

The question I would have is, what is the Synthex’s Ring Mod section using for carrier and modulator, and what amounts? Also, what does it mean to say Osc2’s waveform is 'Osc1 PCM + Ring Mod'? What are the levels, and balances? You are showing an estimate for the Solaris of 52% modulation of the PW...

Re: Ring Modulation...and more!

Hello everyone, on the same topic(s) (Elka Synthex and Ring Mod): as part of my self-taught sound synthesis class, I came across the description of patch 46 of the Elka Synthex ("Ring Mod", aka as the Laser Harp), by Paul Wiffen, borrowed here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zaYkgY5_toE) ...

Re: How to load samples into Solaris

On my Solaris, there is no 'SampImg’ parameter in the 'System' page, below "Transp." and left to "LoadOuts", it's just blank. Turning the corresponding encoder does nothing. Is there something to do? Btw, the manual doesn't mention the 'SampImg' thing, it's only in the first post...

Re: Multitimbrality

Very good news John, both the new OS and the expander! I was wondering if the expander could be used as a "regular second solaris" : with one solaris keybard unit, we will be able to have up to 4 parts if I understood well. Thus, with two solaris keyboard units, we can have up to 8 parts. ...

Re: OLED text displays

Hi all, I'd like to say that I'm very happy with the OLED screens, as they add exactly what I was expecting: - a very fast response time. With traditional LEDs, when you manipulate an encoder the representation of the value gets a little blurry and you have to wait a few ms before being able to read...
