Thats what I thought too. As an example, the encoders on my Waldorf Q are still going strong...and thats about a decade now. Also, the encoders on the Solaris have a massive resolution. The only Solaris demo that I can think of that had stepping was one where the encoder was sweeping semitones... I'...

NAMM was crazy this year...if there were fewer folks this year, it was hard to tell from the vantage of the Solaris booth. ;) I'm just now recovering my voice from talking so much - and the head cold I caught in all the unbelievable rain down there. Suffice to say it's been a long, complex road with...

I just ordered an extra set of tiers for my stand...everything will move up a rung leaving a tantalizing empty spot. :D

I'll worry about a dust cover when it's actually resting comfortably there.

The wait will be SO worth it, folks!

Re: Any utility to a Nord Wave? (Already Prepaid a Solaris)

Is there any utility to purchasing a Nord Wave if I want to take samples and process them in a VA-sort of environment just as if they were traditional oscillators? Will the Solaris keyboard be able to perform this function (or act similarly) reasonably well? Well, the answer is probably "yes a...

I finally got a chance to listen to this on proper speakers in my studio.

Breathtaking, Stephen!!!

Permanent Sunrise

I did this a while back with the first proto: http://carbon111.com/solaris/permanent_sunrise.mp3 This tune actually ended up on my album: http://cdbaby.com/cd/carbon1112 Most of the oscillators are wavetables and I've got a nice sync sweep in there too. :) Drums are courtesy of the Korg Electribe, e...

:( I'm on a regular WinXP PC now and there is no program that will play a "M4a" file. It looks like it's some kind of Apple thing based on the Wiki article...part of Quicktime apparently. Since Quicktime rewrites file associations without permission (and it's a PITA to fix), I'd rather not...

Ahhh. I'll have to go upstairs and check it out later then. :) I damaged my back yesterday and I'm flat on my back in the middle of my living room with a heating pad and a tiny Linux netbook running Firefox.... :( Man, I am dieing to play the Solaris again...I'm already making up patches in my head!...

Aaarrrgh!

What's an M4a file? Firefox won't play it natively. What's the "helper app"? :?

If the Solaris was a workstation there'd be no way I'd want it without a big, weighted keyboard. Since I already have a nice rompler/workstation I've got that base covered. The raison d'etre of the Solaris is more along the lines of "ultimate programmer's/sound designer's synth" - a nice c...

As far as I know, the "limited editions" are just the preorders - they will be signed by John and are available in the light color and the dark color.

The standard production model will be the same as the darker model but without the "limited edition" silkscreen and no signature.
