Hi folks,

Just plonked down deposit for a Solaris.

Saw in the FAQ 'V1 Solaris' won't have multitimbrality.

Are we still V1 on the OS or is there multitimbrality?

I'd love to be able to address sounds in a multitimbral way via midi.

Really looking forward to the synth!!!

No multitimbre mode....yet! I know it's been an issue for some, and it is still in the plans. I would say, though, that it will probably be much later this year.
We have a new coder involved, and I've discussed this with him, and he thinks it will take him some time to fully understand the system.

Take him some time to understand the system? I bet.

The news is that no work has been done on the Multi Mode. I am very disappointed with this, because I had hoped to have it by Christmas, but Nicholas has been quite delayed in his code work, as his regular job of running a company has taken up all his time. Still, it is planned, and I have discussed the details with him. It’s also possible we will get another person on board to start help with the coding.

Yes, I will be showing a beta version at the NAMM show! I’ll be in booth 9900.

That's amazing news. Anything you can reveal yet ? I guess the amount of parts would be of interest to a lot of us with some explanation on potential limitations. I understand if giving us feedback willhave to wait till after NAMM though.

It will be 4 Parts. You can distribute the available voices to each part based in pairs (since each of the 5 ‘voice' DSPs produces 2 voices). I've explained this elsewhere in the Forum, but basically you have a ‘pool’ of 10 voices, and assign them to each part in pairs. So, for example, you could have something like 2-4-2-2 voice assignment, or 4-2-2-0, etc.

Also, using the Poly Chain mode, you can slave another Solaris module to add additional voices. This works best if you have the same Multi Preset loaded in all units, of course!

Here’s a short video showing a bit of the new Multimode OS that Jim is working on. I’ve had a number of requests about it, so I thought the best way to explain it would be to demo it in a video.
