How about similar, but not quite through going 'vents' in the wood ends, too? The suggested Solaris vents look better than those in Oasys.

Best regards,
Tiitu.

Hi All,

I've just received some really beautifully finished wood end caps as possible variations for those who want the solid wood look. There's three woods used - ash, Pacific Northwest walnut, and red heart maple. I'll try to get photos up of these within the next day or two. (A fourth choice, figured maple, was not available at the moment, but the sample block I have is also very nice!)

Looking forward to those pics - but how about considering Sapele? Not too expensive, dense, workable, great-looking... available in many forms - here's a link to "quilted" Sapele:

Thanks Howard, I found out it's a wood from Africa that would be a 'special order' here. Still, it could be offered as an upgrade choice.

John that's fantastic, I can't wait to see some pictures. I have a limited edition Maple Voyager so now I have to decide what other kind of tree will be in the studio.

I've been hoping to get some professional shots done, but haven't been able to schedule it yet, so...I'll put up some "home style" shots of the wood panels done in my home.
First a shot of the ash and walnut end caps, and then a number of close-up shots of the red heart maple mounted on the prototype:

(Clever viewers may also notice that I was trying out some different knob caps in the full shot of the proto - these were taken from a Prophet '08 keyboard, and do 'dress it up' a bit, however, in actual use, I have been preferring the knob caps with a more rubberized feel. Lest anyone thinks this scandalous, I did get Dave's approval to use the Prophet '08 knob caps if desired :) )

Yes, I'll mount each type of wood end caps on the proto, and take more pictures.

Hi,

Look what I found:

I'll definitely order special wood panels. The rare Finnish birch, i.e., Visa birch is one possible option, but I also liked the African wood. Pine, spruce, normal birh, oak and buche are not exotic for me.

Note: Visa birch is almost white, but quite hard wood. In fact the final color depeds not so much on the wood, but on the painting etc. used.

Cheers,
Tiitu.
